CGI’s residential impact garage door lines break into a few families, and parts do not always cross between them. Signs Your CGI Impact Garage Door Is Failing

• The door hesitates or shudders halfway up the track. Usually it’s a worn roller on one side, or a hinge pin that’s ovaled out. CGI doors are heavier than standard doors, so a failing roller gets loud fast and puts uneven load on the operator.
• You can see daylight through the panel seams, or the door racks sideways when closed. This points to either a stretched cable or a hinge plate pulling away from the stile. On coastal Fort Pierce homes, salt air accelerates the hinge wear.
• The bottom seal is torn, flattened, or dragging a black streak on the concrete. A failed bottom seal in Florida is a standing invitation for water, sand, and every bug between here and Okeechobee. The rubber stiffens in the heat and tears at the corner first.
• Rust bleed at the panel corners or a chalky white powder on the aluminum. The chalk is oxidation. The rust bleed means the galvanized internal reinforcement is reacting with salt air. Neither fixes itself.
• The door closes hard and bounces back open. That’s the operator fighting a door that’s out of balance. It can be springs, but on CGI doors it’s just as often a track that’s shifted a quarter inch out of square.
